B.B.E./M.S. in Quantitative Systems Pharmacology

Accelerate your future in QSP

The 4+1 pathway gives University of Delaware biomedical engineering undergraduates a head start on a graduate degree in quantitative systems pharmacology. In just five years, students can complete both a B.S. in biomedical engineering and an M.S. in QSP — gaining specialized skills that are in high demand across the pharmaceutical, biotech and regulatory sectors.

Why choose the B.B.E./M.S. in Quantitative Systems Pharmacology pathway?

This accelerated option is ideal for students who want to:

  • Build advanced skills in computational modeling and pharmacokinetics.
  • Position themselves for high-paying industry roles or competitive Ph.D. programs.
  • Save time and money by earning two degrees in five years.
  • Apply up to 6 graduate credits to both degrees.

Students in the 4+1 program take graduate-level courses during their senior year, then complete the remaining master’s requirements in a fifth year of full-time study.

Eligibility

Open to UD undergraduates majoring in biomedical engineering.

Admission requirements

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • At least 75 credits completed by spring of junior year.
  • Must apply by May 31 of junior year.
  • GRE not required.
  • No application fee.

Applicants must submit a brief application through UD’s graduate system (SLATE), along with a signed 4+1 approval form and their UD transcript.

To remain in good standing, students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and meet all program requirements.

Why Earn a Master’s in QSP at the University of Delaware?

UD offers the first master’s programs in the U.S. dedicated to QSP — and the only one focused on advanced modeling and industry alignment. Here’s what sets us apart:

Industry-aligned curriculum
Developed with feedback from QSP leaders at Merck, GSK, AstraZeneca and the FDA, the curriculum emphasizes real-world modeling, PK/PD, and systems biology.
Hands-on training
Choose between an industry internship or a master’s thesis. All students complete a 200-hour experiential component focused on pharma-relevant problems.
Expert faculty
Learn from leading biomedical engineers and pharmacologists who are actively shaping the field.
Strong career outlook
QSP master’s graduates are well-positioned for roles in pharma, biotech and regulatory science. Estimated entry-level salaries range from $100,000–$110,000.
