The Art in Science exhibit will be at two locations this year. From April 14th until May 1st, the exhibit can be viewed in the Harker ISE Lab at the University of Delaware. On May 5th, the Art in Science exhibit will travel to Blue Ball Barn at Alapocas Run State Park in Wilmington, Delaware until June 4th. Art in Science is geared toward highlighting the cutting edge research at the University of Delaware that spans all disciplines in order to educate and engage the local community and spark interest in STEM activities in underrepresented student populations.
Submissions from last year will be on display at The Perfect Blend (249 East Main Street) in the near future and will be available for purchase.
We anticipate that engaging and educating the local community, through art, about the research taking place at the University of Delaware and its potential impact on local, national, and international communities will instill a sense of pride and connection between the University of Delaware and local residents.
We also anticipate that the inclusion of students from local schools will spark interest in their potential pursuit of STEM education. We are looking forward to hosting this event for a second year after its success in 2016.
While the Art in Science exhibit is displayed at Blue Ball Barn, park patrons are welcome to view the exhibit. Additionally, there are plans to incorporate the Art in Science exhibit into school programs run through Alapocas Run State Park.
